The summer and autumn of 2003 saw the establishment of a link between SYSLAB International AS (SI), Menningarstovan (Faroe Islands Trade Council), Sulisa AS (Greenland Business Development Corporation) and Idntæknistofnun (IceTec). With support from NORA (Nordic Atlantic Cooperation), the purpose was to lay the groundwork for a key project aimed at:
1) developing better networks between organisations, and small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) in the respective countries
2) using these networks for cost-effective utilisation of the resources of organisations and small businesses
3) building on the complementary expertise of the parties and strengthening entrepreneurship in Nordic Atlantic countries
Based on the pilot project, we proposed the establishment of a network of implementation arenas in Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Iceland, with a node in each country linked to the network operator SI in western Norway. Our node proposal builds on the SPARK model that SYSLAB International has developed and operated (see dedicated web page: technology/SPARK).
